April 30-May

It was Jerry Seinfeld’s birthday yesterday and it is fitting since the AL East is currently in Bizarro mode. Wednesday, April 30, 2008 MLB - Tampa Bay Rays at Baltimore Orioles The person who said that, “the only certainties in life are death and taxes” pretty much hit the nail on the head; at least as far as early season MLB standings go. If you were to typecast the American League’s East Division, you would assume that the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox would battle for the lead with the Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles duking it out for a possible Wild Card berth and the Tampa Bay Rays dwelling in the cellar—not so early in the 2008 season. As of the standings yesterday, it was Baltimore who was sitting atop the AL East with the Tampa Bay Rays a mere game behind and wouldn’t you know it, the two are in the midst of a series. Andy Sonnanstine will take to the mound for Tampa tonight while Matt Albers will do the same for Baltimore. Despite being a perennial bottom dweller in the East, Tampa Bay has
actually been a profitable 7-5 on the Money line its last twelve games
against the O’s and the Total has gone Over in seven of the last 11.
NBA – Atlanta Hawks at Boston Celtics Hawks +14 Over 187.5
To borrow another Seinfeld reference, the Celtics and the Hawks are even Stephen. Boston seemingly had a stranglehold with a 2-0 series lead headed into Game 3, but a return to the South seems to have re-invigorated the Hawks as Atlanta evened the series at two a piece, much to the delight of hoops fans in Georgia. Not only did the series even out, so did the Total. During the 2007/08 NBA season, the Hawks and Celtics had failed to cash in on the Over including two Unders these playoffs but that trend came to a halt with the series shift to Atlanta as the Total went Over in both games. However the series is back in Boston tonight and SPORTSBETTING.COM has the Celtics listed as a heavy 14-point favorite and has the Total set at 187.5. While the Under streak has been broken, the Hawks and Celtics have yet to go Over in Beantown.
Friday, May 2, 2008 Chicago Cubs at St. Louis Cardinals It’s been about a century since the Cubbies last won the World Series and diehards are hoping that the drought ends this year. So far this season the Chicago Cubs are on the right track, currently tied for the NL Central lead with the St. Louis Cardinals and the two take part in a weekend series which could see Chicago grabbing sole lead of the division. Rich Hill will get the start for the Cubs and will duel with Adam Wainwright in the series opener on Friday. The Cubbies have owned their division rivals paying out in 10 out of the last 13 times on the Money line vs. St. Louis and in that same span, the Cubs and Cards have an Over/Under record of 4-8-1. And with that we’d like to leave on a high note. In Costanza-like fashion we want to go out on a high note: so we would to thank you, you’ve been great, have a good weekend. Sports
betting is a game of skill. The challenge is to gather and analyze as much
information as you can about a game, weigh the probabilities of each team
winning, and subsequently compare your opinion to the oddsmaker's. Make
the right judgment and you win. It's as simple as that.
